Fairview Fire Volunteer Fire Department

The Fairview Fire Department has 30 volunteer community firefighters operating from the fire hall located in downtown Fairview. The Department provides fire protection and rescue services for residents of the Town of Fairview and surrounding area. 

Often the first to respond to a scene, the Department provides the following emergency services for those in need:

- Hazardous Materials Mitigation (HAZMAT)
- Heavy Rescue (including the use of Jaws of Life)
- Minor Emergency Medical Support
- Fire Suppression 
 
In addition to emergency services, the Fire Department contributes elsewhere in the community; overseeing Canada Day fireworks, providing tours for schoolchildren, public safety education, and participating in parades.

Once a month, members meet for an informational in-service to keep up training necessary to perform duties efficiently.

To become a member
Interested individuals may fill out an application form provided by the Town of Fairview to be considered for membership. Applications may be dropped off at the Town of Fairview Office for review.

Each candidate must:

- Be 18 years are older
- Provide a valid and current criminal records check
  
The department utulizes a fleet of six vehicles including: 1 tanker, 2 rescue trucks, and 3 pumpers. These vehicles are owned by the Town of Fairview and Municipal District no. 136.   

Fairview Junior Firefighters

The Fairview Jr. Firefighters is an excellent opportunity to experience and learn what it takes to be a community firefighter. Incredible first hand experience is offered by the program, from work at minor fires, to attending general meetings, to assisted maintenance of equipment, youth are presented with a phenomenal small town opportunity. Not only will participants enjoy the excitiment of this institution, but they will also appreciate the leadership, comradery, courage and pride of being on a firefighting team.
5 spaces are reserved for individuals aged 12-18 to become Jr. Fire Department Members. Call the Town Office (780.835.5628) for further application information.


Members of the Jr. Fire Department have the opportunity to engage in the following activities:
- attend all Fire Department general meetings
- assist in any community events (pancake breakfasts, school tours of the hall, etc.)
- attend grass fires with the Department
- assist in the clean up of trucks, and equipment after a fire
