Municipal Taxation and Payables Clerk

Are you a conscientious and professional in the delivery of services? The Town of Fairview is seeking a Taxation and Payables Clerk. This is an opportunity that has become available due to a retirement and is available to start May 1, 2024.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Taxation and Payables Clerk is responsible for the assessment, property taxation and account payable function for the Town. The ideal candidate has experience in a financial capacity with relevant qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the assessment roll is prepared and correct.
  • Prepare Tax Notices and keep Tax Rolls current and correct.
  • Other Tax and Assessment duties as required.
  • All payable accounts and functions.
  • Ensure all payables are correct and paid on time.
  • Various other relevant filing and reporting duties.

Compensation:

We offer a salary range of $54,725.00 – 65,500.00 per year based on training and experience.

This is a fulltime permanent position (35 hrs/week) in an office environment; with a typical weekday working day of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Qualifications

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Must have accounting and financial bookkeeping experience and related training.
  • Experience with Municipal finance and Taxation is preferred.
  • Experience and training with accounting software.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • An ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Required to have advanced experience with MS Office.
