2023 Property Tax Information
Property Tax Notices were mailed on May 25th, 2023. The Town of Fairview Property Tax consists of municipal taxes, education taxes, North Peace Housing Foundation levy and local improvement taxes where applicable.
Yearly, Council approves the budget based on the expenditures required to provide necessary services. From this total amount, taxes are levied to support the budget. This amount makes up the municipal portion of your taxes. Other taxes are levied by the Alberta school systems and the North Peace Housing Foundation. These amounts are collected by the Town and forwarded to those organizations.
Taxes are due on June 30th, 2023, with penalties applied on the current amount after June 30th, 2023, at the rate of 15% with exception of the property owners who are currently enrolled in the Tax Installment Payment Plan.
Failure to receive a tax notice is not considered sufficient reason for non-payment of property taxes. If you have NOT received your notice, please contact the Town of Fairview office at 780-835-5461 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request your tax notice.

How are my municipal taxes calculated?
Once the Town has set the budget, the amount required from taxes is divided by the total assessed values of all properties. This gives us a Tax Rate. The amount each property owner pays is determined by their property assessment value multiplied by this Tax Rate. Using this method, the amount required to operate the town for one year is split among all property owners in Town based on the assessed value of their property.
How are my other (Education & NPHF) taxes calculated?
The organizations determine the amount they require from each municipality (we call this a requisition). Once we know that amount, we follow the same process of calculating a Tax Rate and then using that Tax Rate to determine the taxes for each property. These taxes collected are not subject to control or review by the Town. Under provincial legislation, the Town is required to collect these taxes on behalf of the organizations.
