Reading was a popular pastime for residents of Dunvegan in the 1800s, and still is! Join us for an afternoon of sharing and discovering books. We’ll start the afternoon by doing a book show and share – tell the group about one of your favourite books or the book you’re currently reading. We’ll then take a guided tour of our historic buildings and find a historic setting where everyone can quietly read their own book. Feel free to bring your own snacks.

Participation is $2/person. All ages are welcome!

Location: Historic Dunvegan Provincial Park

Mystery is afoot at Dunvegan! Was it the fur trader in the store with the fur press? Or the voyageur in the canoe with the copper pot? Join us for our annual interactive “Whodunnit!” event to help solve the crime! Children 6 and under can enjoy the Kids’ Zone area, and anyone can show off their creativity at the craft table. Activities are free with regular admission.

Visiting Tips:

If you are able to walk, please consider parking in the gravel lot to the west of the site entrance. The paved lot to the east of the Visitor Centre is reserved for those with limited mobility (those with walking aids, parents with strollers, etc.).

Proceed to the Visitor Centre to purchase a wristband and get information on the days’ activities. You must show proof of admission (wristband) to participate in activities.

Food is available at Dunvegan Market Gardens (approximately 1 km east of the Visitor Centre). The Alberta Parks Day Use area has fire pits and cook shelters if you wish to bring your own food.

The Mystery Activity ends at 4 p.m

The end of the Steel Museum is hosting its Annual Canada Day breakfast! Come down and enjoy some pancakes, eggs & ham.
