The Town of Fairview Parks & Recreation crew along with Public Works completes street sweeping and boulevard sweeping every spring and throughout the summer months.

Please remove vehicles and trailers from street side when you see signage posted in your area.

Reminder that all cleaning efforts are subject to weather and equipment availability and may change depending on these or other factors.

FAQ

An initial pass on street sweeping is completed by Public Works crews once the majority of spring runoff is complete and streets are 98% dry. This first pass of winter traction control removal allows crews to sweep up and recycle up to 90% of the product for our next winter season. There is no priority routes selected as each spring season produces a different melting rate, therefore it is solely up to the Public Works department which areas are completed and when, however, typically they try to ensure the main routes are completed first.

During the initial spring cleaning efforts, the Town’s crews will endeavor to gather as much road debris as possible when they are in a particular area. While crews strive to do their best, some road gravel is inevitably left behind after they move on to the next identified area. The Town’s sweeper does run more passes throughout summer and should the public notice areas that were missed during the initial spring cleaning efforts.

Please ensure there are no obstructions in the gutter in front of your driveway. Any ramps or overhanging objects (basketball hoops) should be removed so the street can be adequately cleaned.

When street sweeping is set to begin, the Town of Fairview will post ads on our social media and website for residents to become aware.

Once this first pass is complete and our recyclable material is picked up, boulevard sweeping is next in our winter product cleanup.

Public Works makes every effort to work effectively and in a timely manner with street sweeping. As we have all experienced those times of a slow melt or heavy rain in Fairview, it may take crews longer than normal to reach your area. Fairview Parks & Recreation crews will determine when boulevard sweeping will begin after the initial street sweeping is complete. They will not start sweeping until it is determined the ground has firmed up and damage to the ground/turf will not occur.

There is no priority routes selected as each spring season produces a different melting rate, therefore it is solely up to the Parks & Recreation department which areas are completed and when, however, typically they try to ensure the areas around our educational areas are completed first.

When boulevard sweeping is set to begin, the Town of Fairview will post ads on our social media and website for residents to become aware. These ads will indicate the area planned to be completed daily and posted in the morning. Crews will place street signage within the area streets to ensure no parking rules are observed.

All boulevard sweeping is weather conditional therefore it may take longer than in previous years if the weather hinders operations.

When street cleaning is scheduled and where maintenance routes exist, parking bans will be declared notifying area residents of the scheduled cleaning activities. When parking bans are declared, please remove vehicles and all obstructions from the road. The Town will try to provide 12 hours notice.

We encourage residents to remove vehicles from the areas during boulevard sweeping as crews will not sweep and blow debris toward your vehicle. To ensure your area is not missed please remove vehicles from the boulevard sweeping area.

When a parking ban is declared, it’s time to make temporary arrangements to park your vehicle elsewhere. Parking alternatives include:

  • Driveways
  • Garages
  • A shared parking space with a neighbor or friend
  • Public Parking Lots

On-street parking may also be available along primary and secondary routes when crews are cleaning residential streets.

No. Your street may appear to have been swept, but further maintenance may be required.

Generally, street sweeping and boulevard sweeping are not completed on Wednesdays to allow for waste collection.
